A former recruiter and retail manager have joined forces to launch a specialist recruitment and training company based in Belfast.
Directors and co-founders Debbie McDermott and Kieran Allmark launched Bluestones Staffing NI to provide everyone from job seekers to local businesses and blue-chip companies with unique training and outsourced staffing solutions. The business specialises in providing bespoke, tailored staffing provision to the logistics, retail and manufacturing sectors and is now Northern Ireland’s first specialist retail staffing and training provider.
The company, which is headquartered in South/East Belfast, is working in partnership with Inspire Business Centre to design and deliver tailored training programmes to companies wishing to upskill their existing workforce or job seekers wanting to develop their skills or re-train in a new sector, whilst also offering direct employment opportunities.
Former Recruitment and Development Manager, Debbie McDermott said, “Kieran and I have over 35 years’ combined experience in the industry and recognised a need for a company which specialises in training, recruitment and outsourced staffing provision. We want to help the unemployed gain the confidence and skills needed to help them back into employment, and help businesses, small and large, upskill their existing workforce.”
Bluestones Staffing’s training programmes are underpinned by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (Qualsafe) meaning all participants receive a certified qualification on completion.
The specialist training provider will also be working closely with logistics, retail and manufacturing companies throughout the country to provide tailored solutions to their staffing needs, whether it’s the provision of temporary, contract or permanent staff.
Kieran Allmark, formally a Head of Business Development for a retail services company, said, “Combining training, recruitment and direct employment allows us to help our trainees directly into opportunities which match their newly acquired skills, and supply companies with a flexible, consistent workforce who have industry-recognised qualifications and the desire and ambition to succeed.”
The duo will be working closely with Inspire Business Centre to identify the economic needs of residents and businesses in the area.
Dr Mark Brotherston, Chief Executive Officer of Inspire Business Centre, which incorporates the ‘Inspire Academy’ said, “Throughout my 35 years’ experience of developing bespoke, accredited, industry lead training and development solutions for a wide range of businesses throughout Northern Ireland, UK and globally, this demand lead approach really adds significant value. It facilitates a high quality, seamless transition for people to embark on a career pathway, equipped with bespoke skills, unique to the business which they are joining, enabling them to make a significant contribution from day one.”
“Every business I speak to, and have delivered for, highlights the significance of having a high quality, pipeline of talented people with the right skills and developed competencies and behaviours, who can integrate into their business and deliver capacity right from the start. This exciting new development presents an eco-system of talent acquisition across a range of sectors throughout Northern Ireland.”
Bluestones Staffing NI launched with the support of the Bluestones Group, an investment company based in Chester, Cheshire.
As well as providing the investment and aid to launch the new business, Bluestones Group will continue to support Bluestones Staffing NI with its extensive range of services which include marketing, finance, HR, IT and admin.
